Pricing Overview

The Genomics CoLab provides project-specific estimates based on assay type, sample number, reagents, sequencing, sample preparation, and analysis. Most assays operate on first sample plus additional sample basis. Due to large first sample costs associated with labor for completing at least one sample, many projects will benefit from batching with other projects. The trade off will be potentially waiting a batch to run versus running a project a la carte.

These examples are official quotes. Contact the CoLab to confirm assay eligibility, sample requirements, scheduling, and final cost before submitting samples.

Bulk RNA/DNA-Sequencing

Bulk RNA and DNA-sequencing projects can be processed in either batched or a la carte. For smaller projects this can heavily influence pricing and turnaround time.

Batched processing: This will include collecting usually 2-4 projects to share the first sample, or batch, costs across reducing total project costs for each project in the batch. The consequence of this is that turn around times may be impacted by waiting additional time period for those projects to share the batch with. For common assays, such as bulk RNA-seq, this may only be one or two weeks of delay. While less common assays, like whole exome sequencing, can be difficult to batch at all. The table below is an example of batched vs a la carte processing with 3 projects splitting the batch costs.

A la carte processing: In this model we will process your samples as soon as we get them. Turn around times will be on the order of 4-6 weeks depending on the prep type, current demands on our group and sequencing queue times.

Single Cell Genomics

Single cell and nuclei genomic assays also contain batch and sample processing fees. However, due to sample type or preparation limitations batching can be difficult to assure and thus we recommend using multiplexing to reduce costs when necessary.

Live/fresh Multiplexing

Live/fresh single cell RNA-sequencing can be multiplexing using the On Chip Multiplexing (OCM) technology. OCM allows for up to four samples to be multiplexed into a single reaction, helping to reduce per sample costs without additional processing needs (no tagging).

Multiplexing with Flex

10x Genomics' Flex line of products also supports multiplexing fresh or fixed tissue using a whole transcriptome probing approach. This allows for variable amounts of multiplexing from 4, 16, 96 and 384 samples to be pooled per reaction.  The 96 and 384 kits are unique in that the protocol requires usage of all 4 reactions, so pricing is per 4 reactions, but divided by samples count per experiment.
